The rise of Isolationism.

From the 1930's to the entrance of the United States in to WW2 there was a massive surge in isolationism and economic protectionism in the United States. Will such another wave spread over this country only to be broke by yet another major global conflict?

Sen John Barrasso

Has no connection to reality, and is continuing the same Republican talking points about insurance across state lines, co-ops, torte reform, and no evil bureaucrats(what are insurance bureaucrats i wonder). What the senator seems to be unable or unwilling to accept is that torte reform is at best an 8% reduction in costs, co-ops have been shown to be completely ineffectual in competing against multi-state/national insurance companies that are operating under monopoly like conditions and colluding with each other to fix prices, and selling insurance across state lines is a canard, as evidenced by current lending laws and how almost every credit card issuer is out of Delaware, who coincidentally has the laxest lending laws. Failsauce Senator Failsauce.

Live senate health care blogging

Figured I would be productive with all the c-span I'm watching. All amendments require 60 votes to be adopted.

Mikulski - Democrat, MD. - Amendment - adopted(61-39) - Eliminates Co-pay and deductibles for preventative services for women.
Murkowski - Republican, Ark - Amendment - voting on right now- Instructs HHS not to use Health Care Task Force recommendations.

edit - 10:36

Murkowski - Republican, Ark - Amendment - withdrawn (41-59)- Instructs HHS not to use Health Care Task Force recommendations.

Obama becomes Johnson today

30k more troops to the meat grinder, supposedly we get our armed services home within 18 months but if memory serves Guantanamo was supposed to be closed by now.
